Modern Parenting Is Relentless
I’m going to put it out there: Modern parenting is relentless.
We’re supposed to have it all, do it all, and act as though we don’t feel busy, stressed, distracted, or burned out. Somehow, if we say it out loud, it means we’re not enough—or we can’t handle it.
To add more fuel to the fire, we’re bombarded by three mutually exclusive messages:
- We deserve it all: success, accomplishments, opportunities—and it’s there for the taking,
- There’s not enough out there for everyone: time, resources, or opportunities, and
- The world is more dangerous than ever.
Wow, that’s a pot waiting to boil! This boiling pot is what brings so much fear and disconnection to parenting.
There’s too much at stake if they mess up!
The margin of error feels that narrow.
Naturally, we can’t let our children figure out their own lives!
So, instead of helping our children develop the skills to figure out which path is right for them, we push ahead and lay that track out for them (no matter how they feel about it).
My Mission for Every Child
My mission is to help families stay out of fear and choose love.
I joined this field so that every child can reach his or her fullest potential.
I want every child to have a strong sense of emotional safety, which is why I focus on the relationships that surround a child.
I teach parents the skills to shape a child’s behavior more effectively, resetting family relationships on a more positive path.
